Overview
We are conducting a search for a remotely-based Senior Web Designer to join our client's design team in San Francisco, CA. This position is a long-term contract with a well established American insurance company working remotely from your home.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all facets of design: visual, ideation, interaction, product, prototyping and execution phases of projects across an array of online interactive and static media, including but not limited to: responsive web design, online advertising, email campaigns, social media sites, video/motion graphics and visual design for web/mobile applications
- Creates pixel-perfect visual mock-ups and codes interactive prototypes to aid correct implementation/realization of the design vision in the final product
- Solves design problems as they arise based on understanding of coding restrictions
- Helps define and evolve the brand’s online presence; champions and maintains company web brand standards and industry best practices across all projects; creates and advances site-wide style guides
- Articulates design rationale as a means to balance business goals and user needs
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years related experience in video and web design/edit and production
- Understanding of the principles of progressive enhancement, accessibility/Section 508 and WCAG 2.0, and can apply best practices to design prototypes
- Exhibits basic working knowledge of front-end coding in HTML5/CSS 3, JavaScript, jQuery and other appropriate code
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of interactive trends in technology and design; ability to learn emerging technologies quickly
- Uses all Adobe Creative Suite applications on multiple platforms, as well as Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, Permute, Garage Band, Sketch, InVision and Microsoft Office
- Creates pixel-perfect visual design across desktop and mobile devices; supports a variety of resolutions with retina assets
- Possesses a keen understanding of the interplay between UI & UX
- Understands the technical requirements and best practices associated with rich media, email & online marketing and responsive web design
- Ability to quickly prototype motion-based interactivity with JavaScript, After Effects, D3, or similar
- Portfolio of work should exhibit solid system thinking in regards to the overall user experience, a solid grasp of information architecture, flow diagrams and wireframes
- Familiarity with processing or other generative art a major plus
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
